Jesus is Not a Slogan

In the words of my friend Jessica Dรญaz who has always been wise beyond her years and so well-spoken:

“At first this story made me laugh. It was just so outrageous. Then I felt angry. Then I felt thankful. Thankful that the hypocrisy is so obvious. It is out in the light. It canโ€™t be denied. God is at work here.

Cultural Christianity has to go. The false idols that are worshiped in pop Christianity are in full view. Wealth, comfort, complacency, self-gain, power, worshiping ourselves, and on and on. May we all repent from participating in cultural Christianity and turn toward Christ. May we read and study the Word, and do what it says.

Itโ€™s not โ€œJesus and coffeeโ€ or โ€œI love Jesus but I cuss a littleโ€ or โ€œJesus and gunsโ€. Jesus is not a slogan to back up our feelings or our positions. Christ alone.

May we be known by our love and defined by our actions and not our political party. May I be the first to repent. Lord hear our prayer.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Matthew 7:24”

Amen!! Cupcake Christianity has GOT TO GO! Jesus didn’t tell us to take up our cross so we could live in luxury, He told us to pick up our cross and follow Him and in turn we would suffer just as He suffered when He was briefly in the flesh here on earth. When you follow Jesus you need to be ALL in. If you sincerely believe you have the Holy Spirit indwelling your body, are your home and your body not holy ground? If you sincerely believe Jesus is with you should you be watching those filthy films, TV shows, and listening to music that doesn’t glorify Jesus alone? Do you think you should be making it a regular practice of misusing the name of the Lord your God? Following Jesus isn’t for the faint of heart, it takes courage and steadfastness. Stop playing around and using Jesus’ name as a slogan to make yourself feel better. Get in the Word, pray like a warrior, be ready, and armor up!

๐Ÿ™Lord Please Save Us From Ourselves! ๐Ÿ™

The words of the beloved Ravi from 2016 ring true right now in 2020, his way with words has always been so compelling and his love for the Lord is so mighty!

“Our differences seem to lead us even farther apart. Oh, Lord of miracles, do what only you can do to save us from ourselves. Give us men and women who will lead us to reconciliation. Give us leaders who will bind us up to heal our wounds, not those who will only incite more hate.

Give us voices that will bring hope and not despair. Please comfort the bereaved and give humility to the ones who are resistant to your ways. Give us pause so that we might sit back for just a few moments to look to you before we look at our impulsive solutions.”
